Japanese player wins Tinian Baccarat tournament
He took home $85,000
An amateur Japanese player took home this weekend the $85,000 jackpot of the Baccarat Challenge hosted by the Tinian Dynasty Hotel and Casino. The player, who refused to reveal his name, defeated 142 contestants on his way to the maximum trophy.

The tournament was divided in 30 qualifying rounds followed by another 40 rounds that led to the final. The top four players received prizes, which ranged from $6,000 to $30,000 and were presented by Tinian Dynasty Hotel and Casino marketing and promotions coordinator Kiri Jackson and tournament director Tony Jackson.

“We finished the ‘Island Style’ Texas Hold’Em Poker Tournament last month in time with the Tinian Hot Pepper Festival, and this is our second tournament for 2008 but the first baccarat challenge,” Kiri Jackson explained. Also, the marketing coordinator said this year the casino plans to host five poker tournaments, five baccarat championships and two blackjack challenges.

“Last year, Tinian Dynasty held two poker tournaments and two blackjack competitions, now we will be increasing the number of tournaments and spacing them to adjust to the schedules of the players from other countries,” she finished.
