Hilton Casino workers say no to union
They voted this week
Dealers at the Atlantic City Hilton Casino Resort rejected 316-268 the union proposed by the United Auto Workers Union. Efforts to unionize Atlantic City casino employees have resulted in a controversial battle between several casinos’ management and the UAW authorities.

“The Atlantic City Hilton respects the informed decision made by our dealers and hopes the UAW will do likewise,” Hilton’s president Anthony Rodio explained. “We appreciate the vote of confidence that our dealers have made.” The Hilton Casino vote was the second straight loss for the UAW.

In spite of this hindrance, UAW officials said they would continue their fight to unionize all 11 Atlantic City Casinos. “We've got another vote scheduled at Bally's ... and we're going full steam ahead,” UAW regional director Joe Ashton explained. “Casino management hopes their campaign of name-calling and personal attacks will convince workers to give up, but that's not going to happen.”

In March, dealers at Caesars and Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino voted in favor of unionizing. One month later, dealers at Trump Marina Hotel Casino voted 183-175 against joining the UAW.
