CROWN casino has been fined after two children were allowed into gaming areas.
The Victorian Commission for Gambling Regulation fined the casino $1000 after a five-year-old and an eight-year-old entered a gaming room with their parents.
The American children entered the underage exclusion area while their father was talking to a security officer at the door.
Crown casino spokesman Gary O'Neil said the family had walked across a bridge from the Promenade Hotel to the casino, where the father asked a security guard for directions.
The casino is obliged by law to notify the VCGR about any underage entry to gaming areas.
Mr O'Neil said the latest breach, which lasted less than a minute, was typical of the hundreds of incidents for which Crown had been fined.
"From time to time we get fined for minors coming on to the premises, but 99 per cent of those cases involve those sorts of accidental things coming on to the (gaming room) floor," he said.
The latest fine comes on top of 30 people who were prosecuted or warned for breaching bans at the casino last financial year.
Crown was also fined $25,000 for four disciplinary breaches of procedures for operating blackjack and baccarat.
Two Crown workers had their licences cancelled for failing to notify the authority after being found guilty of theft and drug trafficking. A third employee was fined and placed on a good behaviour bond without conviction after gambling in the casino.
